SUMMARY:Screening for Addictive Disorders in Primary Care: Understanding Addiction\, Treatment Pathways\, and Bias
DESCRIPTION:This workshop supports EPT practices in building a strong foundation for screening for substance use disorders (SUD) in primary care. Participants will develop a shared understanding of addictive disorders and recovery\, review the current treatment landscape\, and examine evidence-based approaches to population-based identification and response. The session focuses on recognizing and mitigating stigma and implicit bias among health care workers—factors that can unintentionally reduce patient disclosure and engagement—and introduces trauma-informed\, patient-centered\, empathic communication principles that support equitable access to care. \n  \nRegister Here. \n  \nThis course meets the qualifications for 1.0 contact hour of continuing education credit for nurses as required by the California Board of Registered Nursing\, Provider #18090. You must attend the full session in order to qualify for contact hours. Course completion certificates will be awarded upon completion of course evaluations. Documentation must be retained by the Participant for a period of four years after the conclusion of this program. \nThe UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs\, LCSWs\, LPCCs\, and/or LEPs. The UCSF Center for Excellence in Primary Care maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
