This session provides a foundational introduction to CalAIM for practices that may have limited familiarity with the initiative or those who would benefit from an updated overview in light of evolving state and federal policy. Part 1 supports providers in better understanding the CalAIM initiative, how it can support their patients, and how to connect to CalAIM providers.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
– Describe what CalAIM is, including its origins, structure, and the key programs most relevant to primary care (ECM, Community Supports)
– Overview of Community Health Worker program
– Explain the role of the 1115 Demonstration Waiver in authorizing and funding CalAIM initiatives
– Identify how H.R. 1 may affect Medi-Cal eligibility and program continuity for their patient populations, and what practices can do to prepare
– Understand how Medi-Cal managed care plans (MCPs) interface with primary care practices under CalAIM
– Identify first steps for engaging with CalAIM programs, including how to connect with their managed care plan
