Mary Deane, MPH
Senior Program Manager
As Senior Program Manager for the Learning Center, Mary facilitates the development and implementation of the technical assistance strategy for the Equity and Practice Transformation (EPT) program. An experienced public health professional and improvement coach, she is passionate about solving complex problems, empowering others, and reducing health inequities. Her key operational skills include process improvement, strategic thinking, designing, implementing, teaching, and coaching quality improvement and implementation science initiatives.
Previously, Mary served as Director at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), where she led various projects and programs within IHI’s Value, Population Health, and Equity Portfolios, focusing on health equity, social health, and improving outcomes for older adults through acute care at home. Before her role at IHI, Mary was a Senior Quality Program Manager at Tufts Health Plan, managing quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing care quality and access for Medicaid members while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. She also established and managed a clinical quality improvement program for Planned Parenthood Federation of America, impacting over 700 clinics and more than 5 million patients annually.
Mary earned her Master of Public Health from Columbia University, with a Certificate in Social Determinants of Health, and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Kansas. In her free time, Mary enjoys going for walks and spending time with family and friends.
